Super Eagles striker Akor Adams is aiming to help his club Sevilla to victory when they visit Barcelona for Sunday’s La Liga clash.
Sevilla 14th on the table have not won any game at the Nou Camp for more than 20 years but according to Adams, football matches are meant to create history. But it remains to be seen if the league leaders will want to drop points as rivals Real Madrid are breathing down their necks. Real Madrid with 63 points is home to Elche on Saturday and are certain to cut Barcelona lead by one point before the match on Sunday.
Adams acknowledged Sevilla’s poor record against Barcelona said: “The great thing about football is that you have the opportunity to make history in every match,” he told Marca in an interview.
“We’re continuing to train and prepare. Yes, they’re the league leaders and have an incredible group of players. But we’re going there knowing what can happen in a match: you can win, lose, or draw. Right now, we’re working hard to see how we can compete and give our best. We’ll see what happens.”
Earlier in October Sevilla beat Barcelona 4-1 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, much to the delight of the home fans. Adams scored in that game, something which is giving him confidence they came also get the result they desire in Barcelona.
