Human rights activist and lawyer Dele Farotimi said President Bola Tinubu made a wrong move by sending Reno Omokri to Mexico to be Nigeria’s ambassador.
Mr. Farotimi who was speaking in an interview with The Citizenship Project, argued that Mr. Omokiri’s past remarks about drug lords could put his life in danger in his destinated country.
“You sent Omokri to Mexico after he had been busy running his mouth about drug cartels. Oh well, he had better make sure that that one has a lot of bulletproof cars and vests in that place that he has gone to.
“But whenever I speak to these things let us understand clearly that I speak to them so you will understand that a window has been opened into how Nigeria operates”
Omokri a well-known critic of President Tinubu became his megaphone leading to his nomination as an ambassador and subsequent confirmation as Nigeria’s representative in Mexico, which has been battle drug cartels.
Omokri in his many tirades had accused Tinubu of being a drug lord. But a few days ago, after he was confirmed, he remarked that Tinubu was “Christlike” in his disposition.
