Abba Kyari...from Super Cop to dirty cop.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said Thursday that disgraced super cop Abba Kyari still has a drug trafficking charge hanging on his neck despite a court ruling that cleared him non-declaration of assets charge.
NDLEA’S director of media and advocacy Femi Babafemi said in Abuja that the rulling by Justice James Omotosho on a 23-count charge related to alleged non-declaration of assets, does not affect proceedings before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, March 16, 2026.
“First, I need to clarify that the ruling by Justice Omotosho is completely different from the main and substantive drug case, which continues before Justice Emeka Nwite on Monday. That one is very much on course,” Babafemi said.
Kyari was arraigned alongside his two brothers, who were accused of allegedly swearing to false affidavits to conceal the origin of some properties said to be linked to the former police officer.
Delivering judgment, Justice Omotosho held that the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence to establish the allegations against the defendants.
According to the court, the NDLEA did not tender credible evidence to prove that the properties allegedly linked to Kyari were truly owned by him.
Mr. Kyari was arrested in 2022 for allegedly having links with international drug cartels. Before his ordeal he is was one of Nigeria’s highly regarded police officers. He was specialised in kidnap and robbery cases.
