Ademola Lookman will return to Atalanta after the international break to work with a new coach following the sack of Ivan Juric by the Bergamo side.
Raffaele Palladino, 41, a former Serie A striker with Juventus and many other clubs, will take charge of Atalanta till 2027. The club management is banking on him to turn around the fortunes of the club placed 13th on the Serie A points chart.
Juric and his backroom staff were shown the exit door following Atalanta’s 3-0 league defeat to Sassuolo at home last Sunday. He had been on the job for just five months.
Atalanta won only two of their 11 league fixtures under Juric’s guidance, and the dressing room appeared to be in disrepair as the team’s form continued to nosedive.
Last week during a Champions League game against Marseille Juric and Lookman were pulled apart at the pitch side in an altercation. Lookman probably angry at being subbed off growled at Juric who in turn gave him a violent grab on his arm. CEO Luca Percassi and team-mate Marten de Roon on the bench intervened to prevent the situation escalating further.
