Nigeria Army Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, said the Federal government has submitted all necessary documentation to Finland to facilitate the extradition of Simon Ekpa, to face terrorism charges in Nigeria.
Ekpa a separatist member of the Indigenous People of Biafra movement, was arrested and detained in November 2024 by the Finish authorities based on allegations of financing and organising terror, inciting violence and promoting separatist propaganda.
The Lahti District Court in Finland ordered his remand on probable grounds of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent in Nigeria.
“Well, I’m sure he’s cooling off somewhere. Legal action will be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say too much, but I’m glad he’s been arrested,” told Channels TV.
He expressed confidence in the Finnish Government taking the appropriate steps now that the required materials have been provided.
Ekpa had given Nigerian authorities cause for concern as he financed terror and promoted violence in the Southeast in his quest to see Biafra republic materialise.
