Nigeria’s long jump hope in the Paris 2024 Olympics, Ese Brume was crowded out of the event Thursday night.
Brume the bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020 finished in the fifth position with a jump of 6.70m in the event won by US athlete Tara Davis-Woodhall with a 7.10m effort.
Malaika Mihambo took the silver with 6.98m, while Jasmine Moore also of the USA took the bronze with a jump of 6.96m.
Nigeria’s other two ladies Ruth Usoro and Prestina Ochonogor did their bit. Usoro leapt 6.58m. It was a baptism of Olympics fire for Ochonogor who did a 6.24m.
