African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele has gone missing after armed thugs invaded a restaurant he was holding a meeting with his supporters in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The incident occurred at 1.00pm Friday as Sowore and his group sat down for discussions. According to a post on his X social media platform, the thugs were allegedly aided by the Department of State Security agents.
“We have been brutally attacked and injured by well-armed government-sponsored thugs in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State,” said the post on X.
“The DSS provided these attackers with our exact location, enabling them to carry out this vicious assault. We won’t back down! We have a country to liberate!”
The whereabouts of Mr. Sowore remains unknown as his supporters called for his immediate release.
Meanwhile Amnesty International said it is deeply concerned by the attack and abduction of Mr. Sowore and his campaign team.
“Right now, their whereabouts are unknown. This incident must be immediately investigated and Sowore’s whereabouts established.”
