Afrobeats singer Oluwatosin Ajibade a.k.a. Mr Eazi’s claim he was in the same football academy with John Mikel Obi before he was signed by Chelsea has got fans talking.
Mr. Eazi in an interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, had claimed that Chelsea came for him and Mikel but they ultimately settled for the former Super Eagles captain who spent 11 seasons with the London Club and winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
“They were gonna sign me. So it was like me and Mikel Obi,” Mr. Eazi said.
“I just thought that Mikel Obi is not, he doesn’t have talent as a musician. But I can do that. So I let Mikel go to Chelsea.”
But football fans hardly believed Mr. Eazi’s story as there seems to be no connection with him and professional football. Some wondered what he had been smoking or drinking before granting the interview.
There’s no record he was ever in the same football academy with John Obi Mikel who was born and raised in Jos Plateau State cut his football teeth at the Pepsi Academy run by late coach Kashimawo Laloko before going to South Africa and later joining Lyn Oslo and ending up in Chelsea.
Mr. Eazi on the other hand was born in Port Harcourt and later moved to Ghana for his University Education. He has no documented history of professional or academy-level football.
