Flavio Bolsonaro who lost his bid to become Brazil President on Sunday has allegedly fled the country.
According to Argentine outlet Infobae Bolsonaro arrived at the Argentina town of Puerto Iguazu on Tuesday using his national identity card. Bolsonaro travelled in a Gulfstream G400 aircraft, with registration LV-JQW, owned by the company Baires Fly SA. The plane left Buenos Aires for Puerto IguazĂș on Monday at 10:20 pm.
However, there has been no confirmation by the Argentina government whether he arrived the country or not.
Bolsonaro was favored to win Sunday’s presidential election but ended up losing in a shock result to leftist incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. On Monday, he was given 24 hours to hand in his passports as part of a money laundering probe in which he denies wrongdoing, but that deadline has now lapsed, the two sources said, leading to his traveling documents being canceled.
The mystery over his whereabouts has raised concerns he could follow the path of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, who moved to the United States after refusing to concede losing to Lula in 2022.
His father is currently serving a 27-year home imprisonment for plotting to overthrow the government after he lost in 2022.
Bolsonaro...on the run.
