Nigeria’s minister of works David Umahi said he is ready to fund from his own pocket 4,000 social media influencers to promote President Bola Tinubu in the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 elections.
Umahi who was speaking on ARISE News said President Tinubu is receiving a lot of bashing in the social media and there has to be a counter narrative adding that he would be personally funding the network of influencers
“David Umahi is funding, not Ministry of Works,” said Umahi.
“We have to fight this social media war. We have to launch 4,000 social media influencers to tell our stories.”
Umahi also hit out at Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi. He argued that the former Anambra State governor is the best man from the Southeast who could be president.
“Peter Obi is not the best of our finest in South-East. He’s not the best; he can never be the best.”
Umahi maintained that his position was not motivated by personal differences with Obi, but by his belief that the region had other qualified political figures who could pursue the presidency.
He accused Obi of not consulting with governors and other influential political figures in the Southeast.
“You cannot play politics in South-East without consulting people like us,” he said.
