Meghan Markle said she had been “deeply distressed” by allegations that her estranged father possessed child sex abuse images.
Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, told The Sun that he had found child abuse images at his father’s home in the Philippines and reported to the police.
Mr. Thomas Markle who lived in the Philippines while recovering from an illness is being investigated by the police over allegations he kept child sex abuse images at home. He has denied the allegations saying they were “sick lies.”
Philippines Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla separately told the BBC that national police had secured Thomas Markle Snr’s computer to conduct a comprehensive digital forensic examination.
Meghan Markle who recently moved back to the UK with her husband Prince Harry, said she has been thinking straight for the past 24 hours.
“I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,” she said in a statement.
“Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
Meghan Markle and her father have been estranged since 2018, after he refused to attend her wedding to Prince Harry.
