Former Vice President and Africa Democratic Congress presidential candidate in the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar has dared President Bola Tinubu to reveal the names of his ministers who paid bribes to be appointed.
Mr. Atiku was reacting to allegations made by All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign spokesperson Alwan Hassan who claimed that several ministers paid bribes to secure a spot in President Tinubu’s cabinet.
“A lot of ministers pay billions and billions, and you know, to get themselves appointed. The first thing they think of is how to recoup that money,” said Hassan who was speaking to Charles Aniagolu anchor of Prime Time on Arise TV.
“The biggest fraudulent people you arrest after every government are ministers.”
Reacting to the allegations Atiku said Friday that President Tinubu needs to speak up on the matter.
“Bola @officialABAT, your campaign spokesman has admitted that ministers paid billions in bribes to secure their appointments. You appointed them, so who received the money? Nigerians deserve names, not silence,” Atiku wrote on X.
He said the President Tinubu administration has recklessly handled the economy and also failed to curtail corruption.
“Your government’s reckless decisions have driven the cost-of-living crisis. And when you withhold funds from ministries because you distrust your own ministers, Nigerians are left paying for a government that has abandoned them,” he added.
