A suspected kidnap kingpin and bandit leader popularly known as DJ Abam has been arrested by the Nigeria army troops.
DJ Abam who was known to have terrorised citizens in the Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State and Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, was arrested at about 6.45 am on Tuesday in Takum after an operation by the army.
Residents of Takum and Katsina-Ala in Benue have welcomed his arrest.
According to Katsina-Ala resident Aondongu Peter Suleagbough whose brother Zaki Sylvester Peter Suleagbough was killed by DJ Abam’s gang; the arrest was long overdue.
He wrote on his Facebook social media platform: “This is justice. This is a clear warning to every criminal who still thinks our communities are playgrounds for bloodshed and lawlessness. A wise dancer knows when to leave the stage — Abam refused, and today the stage has collapsed under him.
“I personally warned him. I spoke to him directly. He ignored every caution and instead vowed to eliminate me. He boasted that he had killed soldiers before and that no one, not even the Army could stop him. He actively participated in the assassination of my late brother, Zaki Sylvester Peter Suleagbough, in a cowardly attempt to silence me and crush the voice of truth.”
