Portugues star player Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a 30 days suspension and will pay a fine of 225 euros for staging a walkout on during the international break.
The Portuguese federation’s disciplinary council announced Ronaldo’s punishment in a 28-page document on Monday evening, saying it was “adequate and sufficient” for the player’s “serious infraction”.
Ronaldo sulked and walked away after coach Jorge Jesus overlooked him in the starting line up against Denmark in the Euro Nations League. He will now miss Portugals next two matches.
But he will be free to face Denmark on 14 November and Wales three days later.
Ronaldo is Portugal’s record goalscorer and appearance holder with 146 goals in 234 caps. He said in his near-2000-word statement last month that he hopes his international career is not over yet.
