Ghana’s football is in turmoil following the Black Stars’ failing Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
With two games decided the Black Stars are rock bottom in group C after losing to Cote d Ivoire and Gambia at home and there are concerns the team will miss the AFCON twice in a row.
Carlos Queuroz the veteran Portuguese coach who guided Ghana to the World Cup because of the poor result has packed his bags and heading back to his country.
The Ghana Football Association announced on Thursday that Queiroz and the association have agreed to tear up his contract.
“This was not an easy decision, but both parties agreed that, under the present circumstances, ending our professional relationship was the most appropriate course of action, with the interests of Ghana, the Black Stars and Ghanaian football above everything else,” Queiroz said.
He added that “the necessary conditions were not fully established, and our recent performance added to the decision to bring this journey to an end.”
Meanwhile Ghana football fans are not happy their team is struggling, they are calling the resignation of Mr. Kurt Okraku who is over seeing the rot in the Black Stars who are four time AFCON champions.
According to Ernest Henry Noegbey who is the Sports Committee chairman in Ghanaian Parliament there are underlying issues bigger than stacking coaches and they need to be addressed.
He called for a constitutional review of the association to address the leadership problem.
