Clementina Ufuomah one of the persons sought by the police in connection with the murder of Unity Adeda at the Delta State secretariat Asaba has reported herself to the police.
Mrs Ufuomah who is the director of basic and secondary education in the Delta State ministry of education, was also a participant in the beating of Mr. Adeda a deputy director in the same ministry headed by Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu.
Dr. Ashibogwu and four others had already been arrested by the police.
Delta State Police spokesperson Bright Edafe, confirmed that Ojumah turned herself in at the command headquarters. “She reported herself to the police on Tuesday.”
Meanwhile the driver of the commissioner Clement Apia who is also wanted by police is yet to report. According to Mr. Edafe, the police are continuing with their investigations to determine individuals responsible for the brutal assault on Mr. Adeda last week.
Mrs. Julie Adeda, sister-in-law to the deceased, said the family remained distressed by the circumstances surrounding his death.
“He’s a very quiet person, and he’s the breadwinner of the family. We are looking up to him. Imagine somebody in that position, somebody will now go and kill him,” said Mrs Adeda.
She called for the quick prosecution of anyone found culpable, saying: “They should track them, and let the law prevail. Let the law prevail from any angle.”
Delta State Police Commissioner, Mr Samuel E. Erale, assured that the investigation into the death of Mr Adeda “will be pursued thoroughly, impartially and professionally,” adding that, “due process will be followed and anyone found culpable will be brought to justice in accordance with the law.”
What was a minor disagreement between Dr. Ashibogwu and Mr. Adeda in the office turned violent as Dr. Ashibogwu allegedly ordered his men to beat up Adeda. He later died from his injuries at the hospital.
