Federal Capital Territory minister Nyesom Wike and his son Jordan are fighting accusations in an Abuja High Court they defrauded an Abuja businessman Hamza Dantani of $2.1m in botched land deal.
According to the businessman he delivered the money in cash to the Wikes in their Gwarinpa home to purchase 60 hectares of land allegedly cornered by the Wikes in Katampe and Guzape districts in 2025.
During the court hearing Wednesday it was revealed that Jordan Wike told the businessman the $2 million out of the payment belonged to the FCT minister while the son’s share of the transaction was merely $100,000. It was alleged that the payment was made in cash on September 26, 2025. He presented documents which bore the signature of Jordan Wike and his NIN number.
According to Mr Dantani, three persons, Adamu Sani, Aliyu Sarki, and Sai Wani were present when the cash was delivered. The court document showed that a companion of the minister’s son, Onor Sandy, witnessed the alleged transaction.
The businesseman alleged that following the payment, the FCT minister’s son was out of reach and he later discovered that the plots of land sold to him belonged to another person.
Mr Dantani told the court that he made efforts to seek a refund in October 2025 without success, prompting him to involve the minister.
The businessman met with the FCT minister in December, but the former Rivers governor was uncooperative and even threatened to arrest him, according to court filings.
However, Jordan Wike denied any involvement in the deal saying the his signature on the documents were forged.
He also claimed that he never met with the plaintiff.
“I did not receive any money from anybody. I did not sign any document for land deal. I only found out that my signature was on the land document just like anyone else in this court yesterday (Tuesday),” Jordan Wike explained under cross examination.
“I never had any friend named Onor Sandy, and I did not have any deal with anyone regarding land deal.”
He claimed also that on the date the plaintiff delivered the money he was outside the country.

The case was adjourned until December 12 and 14, 2026 for continuation of the trial.
Wike was alleged to have allocated 3,700 estimated the plots to be worth around $6.4 billion to his sons Jordan and Joaquin.
