Edo State governor Monday Okpebholo has expressed confidence that the structure of All Progressives Congress (APC) was firmly established across the Edo, making the party well positioned ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Okpebholo stated this on Tuesday during the party’s mobilisation and campaign activities in Ologbo Ward 9 and 10, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor said the mobilisation exercise is aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots and ensuring that its candidates receive the necessary support.
He urged party members to remain united and committed to the APC programmes, assuring them that his administration would continue to work for the people.
Okpebholo also called on party members and supporters to work towards securing victory for APC candidates in the Senate and House of Representatives elections.
He thanked the people for their support for his administration and for coming out in large numbers in spite of the rainfall, while assuring them that his government would continue to work for the development of the state.
The governor at the event presented the party’s Senatorial candidate, Ogbeide Ihama, House of Representatives candidate, Mr Felix Igbinovia, and House of Assembly candidate, Mr Clement Ikponmwonsa, to party faithful at the various campaign grounds.
Earlier, Mr Jarrett Tenebe, state Chairman of the party, said the party was targeting 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the state in the next general election.
Tenebe said the party leadership had commenced mobilisation across the 18 local government areas to achieve the target, adding that the governor and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, had been visiting communities and engaging party members.
He urged party members to work collectively towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
Also speaking, Mr Sunny Ogbewe, APC Chairman in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, said the governor’s visit had boosted the morale of party members in the area.
Ogbewe said Ikpoba-Okha, which he described as having one of the largest numbers of registered voters in the state, would work to deliver substantial votes for the APC.
He also said the party had commenced mobilisation and would continue to engage residents and party members ahead of the elections, while commending the governor for projects and interventions in the area.
The governor’s visit formed part of the APC’s ongoing mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.(NAN)
