Galatasaray officials are not happy their star striker Victor Osimhen has been included in the list of players for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar at home September 25 and Guinea-Bissau away September 29 respectively.
The Turkish League champions want Osimhen to be fully rested and healed up using the international window after he picked up a groin injury on September 4, but the Nigeria Football Federation rejected the request Osimhen should be left out the AFCON qualifiers.
However, according to reports from Turkey Galatasaray has informed the NFF that Osimhen has not fully recovered hence he was left out of the game against Trabzonspor on Saturday.
.“Actually, the goal was for Osimhen to make it to the Trabzonspor match. At least for the bench. But because he felt groin pain during training on Thursday, they decided not to take that risk,” Turkish journalist, Ali Naci Küçük, wrote on X wrote.
“Galatasaray doesn’t aim to take too many risks with Osimhen.”
Super Eagles coach may have to forget having Osimhen for the qualifiers and rather pin his hopes on Kelechi Iheanacho, Akor Adams and Tolu Arokodare for his striking options.
Osimhen...injury prone.
