Victor Osimhen...in race to be fit.

By Ben Efe 17.9.2026

Super Eagles top striker Victor Osimhen made the list of players who will tackle Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau for the 2027 African Cup of Nation qualifiers.
Osimhen picked up a groin injury during Turkey Super League game for his club Galatasaray on September 4, and he was expected to be out for three weeks. However, Osimhen known to make quick recoveries from such setbacks earned the trust of coach Eric Chelle to be fit and ready. He did not train with Galatasaray squad on Thursday ahead of their weekend game.
The Super Eagles will host Madagascar’s Barea at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Friday, September 25, before flying to Bissau to take on the Wild Dogs on Tuesday, September 29.
Also in the team are Saudi-based striker George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor, and Tolu Arokodare who has found a new form playing in the Dutch league with Ajax Amsterdam. Ola Aina who played his last game for the Super Eagles against South Africa during botched 2026 World Cup qualifiers is back to team.
In midfield, the usual quartet of Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika are in the mix.

Ola Aina…back again for more.
