Nigeria Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso has urged members of the Fulani Farmers Association to prevail on African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, to give up on his campaign to be President in 2027.
Kwankwaso who played host to the farmers at his residence in Abuja, said Atiku should consider his age and step aside. He also said that Atiku being the Wazirin Adamawa should instead go home and be a statesman performing his traditional duties.
“Go to the Wazirin Adamawa’s house and tell him in Fulani that he needs to focus on his traditional title of Wazirin, given his age and health,” Kwankwaso told the Farmers Association.
“If Allah grants us success, we will take good care of him, especially since you all come from Adamawa. An apology should be offered to him.”
Meanwhile NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi said stepping down for Atiku was not in his agenda at the moment.
“Do you know where we are now? Where we are now is that I’m a candidate, my leader Atiku is a candidate of another party, so you are talking about two parties coming together; it’s no longer me or him as you are now talking about parties coming together.
“All those parties have candidates, so it’s no longer me as Peter talking. It’s like a situation where you have two corporations coming together; it’s no longer two CEOs going for a drink and saying we are going to work together. It’s not me saying I don’t want to be this or that; no, we have passed that stage.”
