Residents of Kebbe in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State have been attacked by bandits who gave seven days to pay a levy of N40m or be killed.
Five persons lost their lives and an unspecified number of people kidnapped after the bandits made good their threat.
According to crisis reporter Bakastine writing on his X social media platform Friday, the bandits attacked the community laying siege for several hours. Five persons were killed, some others were injured, some others taken hostage and cattle also stolen.
The threat was made known in advance and Sokoto State Police also raised an alarm yet the residents were left to their own fate.
