Federal Capital Territory minister Nyesom Wike said he has been having sleepless nights thinking of a possible victory for the opposition parties in the 2027 elections.
Wike who was speaking during a chat with the media Wednesday in Abuja said he would become an automatic target if President Bola Tinubu was defeated.
To this end he stated that he would do everything he could to stop Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi from winning.
“I will be the first politician that I think they will come after. I will be the first politician. I know they will come for my head,” he said.
“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the President’s reelection. When I am eating, I think about the President’s reelection. Everything I am doing now is about the President’s reelection.”
He noted that he was not taking the opposition for granted
The minister added that criticisms trailing his support for Tinubu do not bother him, stressing that he has been vilified more than any other politician for his loyalty.
Wike leads a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, but yields influence in the All Progressives Congress the ruling party.
According to him this was making some top members of the party uncomfortable. He accused Kwara State governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Imo State governor Hope Uzodinma of working against him.
“Take for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere.
“Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” Wike said.
“Governor Hope, he knows the support I give to him.”
