Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has expressed frustration as his side’s lost two starting games after going down 1-0 to visiting Hull City in a Premier League tie Saturday.
Despite having possession and having scoring chances including one Taiwo Awoniyi failed to put away, Hull had the last laugh in the 82nd minute as Liam Millar scored to give Hull their second straight win. “Disappointed, clearly, because it’s a game we wanted to win,” Lampard said.
“We controlled a lot of the possession but not with our usual sort of play it forward with a dynamic sort of way about us; not too much position low down and not enough risk taking at the top of the pitch.”
Awoniyi who had a good game stated that Conventry’s lack of clinically finish and good goalkeeping by Konstantinos Tzolakis made Semi Ajayi his Super Eagles team smile.
“We did quite good in terms of having the ball but unfortunately they had that great counter attack and they took their chance. It is on us to take our chances as well,” Awoniyi told Coventry media.
“The chances that we had were the ones that the goalkeeper saved. I wanted to put my foot in and that was one of the clear chances that we had, and I think the keeper was brilliant for them. We just have to take our chances as I said earlier.
“We didn’t take it and they took theirs, it was a disappointing defeat for us.”
