Former Manchester City and Chelsea player Raheem Sterling is scheduled to appear September 15 in court to faces three separate charges following a car crash in May.
Police arrested Sterling after he was spotted driving dangerously and swerving lanes on the motorway near a Farnborough interchange in May 2026. He was also found in possession of nitrous oxide commonly known as “laughing gas” which he allegedly inhaled wrongfully.
He could be spending two years behind bars if found guilty of the multiple offences.
A force spokesman confirmed the charges in a statement, naming Sterling and revealing his court date.
“Raheem Sterling, 31, from Berkshire, has been charged for the following offences: dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, failing to provide a specimen. Mr. Sterling is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on September 15,”
Sterling is a free agent after his contract with Dutch side Feyenoord expired in the 2025/26 season, having made only eight appearances for the Eredivisie outfit without scoring and contributing a single assist.
Sterling joined Feyenoord after Chelsea terminated his contract in January 2025, roughly 18 months before it was due to run its course.
