Nwabueze Buchi George has argued that the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office, was not a fake government agency.
This is coming on the heels of revelations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), that Buchi George was running a fake government agency under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Writing on his LinkedIn social media page, Mr Buchi George shared an appointment letter, dated October 3, 2025, and issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) with reference number OSGF/MIN/59310/11/205. to buttress his claim the government was aware of what he was doing.
The letter, titled “Appointment as National Coordinator and Executive Director Made in Nigeria Project Office”, bore the OSGF letterhead and was signed by Nadungu Gagare, identified as permanent secretary in the Political and Economic Affairs Office. He and two other permanent secretaries have been suspended by President Bola Tinubu over the episode.
According to the document, the OSGF approved Nwabueze’s appointment as National Coordinator and Executive Director of the Made in Nigeria Project Office.
It stated that the appointment was for five years, beginning from July 2025, and renewable.
The letter assigned him responsibility for supervising programmes, projects and policies of the office, including regional and state coordinators.
According to the ICPC, during the course of its investigation into Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), it discovered  three bodies including the FCT Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public-Private Partnership (FIPA-PPP) and the Brands and Made-in Nigeria Project Office were fake government agencies.
