Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has claimed that he saved his former boss Olusegun Obasanjo from receiving the same injection that killed former influential military leader Major- General Shehu Yar’Adua.
Yar’Adua died in prison in 1997 after being accused by the General Sanni Abacha doctorship of planning a coup with Obasanjo. It was alleged that Yar’Adua was injected with substances by doctors working for Abacha.
Atiku who was speaking to journalists on Thursday concerning his ongoing political feud with Obasanjo said he practically saved Obasanjo’s life, but he remains antagonistic towards his bid to become Nigeria’s President because he Atiku stopped Obasanjo from achieving his bid to elongate his tenure in 2007.
“I saved Obasanjo’s life in prison by leaking information about an impending injection that would have killed him.
“They did the same to Yar’Adua, and when I learnt they planned to do it to him, I warned him not to allow the injection.
“Today, he wants the world to hate me because I opposed his third-term ambition,” Atiku said.
