Nigerian born in South African former beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina will know if she will continue to stay in South Africa come February 2027 after a Cape Town Court reserved judgement in her deportation case.
The Cape Town Regional Court presided by Magistrate Reema Khorana said Wednesday it will reserve judgement till a High Court where Chidimma Adetshina had filed an application for the review of her case deliver its verdict.
Chidimma Adeteshina was dragged to court by the South African Home Affairs Department after accusing her of sneaking into South Africa after representing Nigeria in the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico 2024 and overstaying in the country. She was arrested and briefly detained in August before being arraigned at the Cape Town Regional Court.
The Court ruled that Chidimma Adetshina should remain at her current address and report to immigration on a regular basis pending the determination of her deportation case.
But this ruling did not go down well with anti-migrant groups March and March and Operation Dudula. They insisted that Adetshina who was born to Mozambican mother and a Nigeria father in Soweto, must be deported, but they will wait for the court decision.
