Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu and his technical crew have been booted out by the Nigeria Football Federation.
This is coming at the heels of the dismal outing posted by the senior women national team at the Women African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Super Falons failed to reach the semi final, which could have earned them an automatic ticket to the Women World Cup in Brazil next year. They lost to Cameroon 1-0. They also failed to beat South Africa to get a second chance of qualification through the play offs.
The Super Falcons the highest ranked team on the African continent for the first time will be missing from the tournament.
Madugu admitted that his team was not good enough to handle the task of at least qualifying for the Women World Cup. His team selection, tactics and preparations were the majority cause of team’s epic collapse.
The federation announced the decision to sack him on Monday.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect.”
The setback also comes after Nigeria’s senior men’s team, the Super Eagles, failed to qualify automatically for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
