Arsenal’s representatives are locked in negotiations with Galatasaray to sign star striker Victor Osimhen in what could be the most dramatic transfer of the summer so far.
According to reports Arsenal have also spoken to Osimhen and it remains to be seen if the highly rated Nigerian striker will make the trip to London to fulfill his dream of playing with a Premier League top club.
Another London club Tottenham are also on his trail, but Arsenal seem to be in the best position as they are throwing in Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri into the negotiations; both players are wanted by Galatasaray.
Arsenal have previously courted Julian Alverez, but the Argentine is only interested in joining Barcelona and will even cost more. Osimhen is valued at about £55m, and Martinelli worth £38m, Nwaneri also in the same region, it makes sense for Galatasaray to accept a swap.
However, Galatasaray are foot-dragging on the prospects of losing their star striker.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta would be glad to have a striker in the mold of Osimhen in his team. After losing to PSG in the Champions League final in May, he acknowledged that the Gunners lacked clinical finisher.
Osimhen is regarded as one of the deadliest No.9s in Europe compared to Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres who are currently running the lines for Arsenal.
According to Football London, Osimhen had delivered title-winning seasons for both Napoli and Galatasaray in recent years. Those campaigns have shown him to be more clinical than Havertz and far better on the ball than Gyokeres, meaning he would add more to the front-line in terms of link-up play.
