Sheikh Muhammad Jingir said he is not bothered by the spate of criticism that has greeted his strong advocacy for a Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
While speaking during a mass wedding in Kano State last Saturday, Jingir who is the chairman of the Ulama Council of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikamatis Sunnah, based in Jos Plateau urged Muslims to massively vote for the  Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of President Bola Tinubu and Kassim Shettima.
He said in the presence of four northern governors that “Christians are infidels” who are not worthy to be voted for in a country he claimed was dominated by Muslims.
“I don’t even care,” he said in an interview with the BBC.
“This is what you have heard, that is my goal, and I have no regrets, and there is no starting date…calling on Islam.
He maintained long before President Tinubu he had always avocated that Muslim occupy the top level leadership of Nigeria.
“I am not promoting Tinubu, I am promoting Islam… I am not promoting Tinubu’s Islam… so this is my profit
“I have the freedom to say that Muslims should be elected, and to say that Islam should be practiced.
“If a person knows he is telling the truth, then he should not be silent about any slander and noise, he should keep repeating it… that is why I keep repeating it,” he said.
