Police casualties of the bloody shootout in Kebbi State.

Ten policemen and two civilians lost their lives when they confronted a convoy of about 240 bandits in Makuku, Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to reports the bandits riding in their motorbikes were moving from Zamfara into Kebbi State with the intention of abducting community members when they encountered the policemen who had been aware of their movement. In the ensuing shootout the cops lost their lives, while 17 of the armed gang members also died in the show of force which occurred on Monday.
Speaking on the tragic turn of event in the under-siege Northwest Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu said he has been saddened by the loss of his officers.
“The Force also assured the bereaved families and the injured personnel of continued support, while pledging to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
“The police reiterated its commitment to sustaining operations against banditry and other criminal activities in the affected areas,” NPF spokesperson CSP Ani Iniedu.
