Afrobeats star David Adeleke a.k.a Davido said that at the start of his fledging music career his famous billionaire dad kick against him being a singer; preferring him to go to school and join the family business.
Davido who was speaking in an interview with Vibe Magazine said his entire family including his elder brothers who had already graduated and joined the family business prevailed on him to skip music.
“I was even on the run at the time from my family when I dropped that record.”
“If you listen to the record, like, ‘You stop trying to stop me, I’m the son of a rich man.’ So that was what I was going through at the time,” said Davido who was 18 when he dropped the hit song in 2011.
“I come from a family which is education-based. The rule is that you go to school, after you go to school, you go and work for daddy. That’s how it is.
“I’m the last kid of five. So imagine the pressure on me having all my siblings have graduated.”
But according to him has dad eventually allowed him be after releasing music was his calling.
