World Junior champion Adaejah Hodge of the British Virgin Islands Thursday posted 22.01seconds women’s 200m of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
At 20, Hodge shaved 0.01 off the Commonwealth Games record Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah, the five-time Olympic gold medallist, set at Birmingham 2022, to send warning to the women in field.
Jamaica’s Ashanti Moore was next fastest in 22.49 to book her own place in the final. Singapore’s Veronica Shanti Pereira was third in a season’s best 22.81 to advance.
Australia’s Torrie Lewis and Jamaica’s Alana Reid took the automatic places in the opening semi-final, both timed at 22.64, with England’s Success Eduan (22.65) advancing on time.
Shaniqua Bascombe topped the final semi-final of the day, the Trinidadian winning in a personal best 22.31 ahead of Jamaica’s Lavanya Williams 22.71
Hodge will be the one to beat in Friday’s final.
