Arokodare...new lease of life at Ajax Amsterdam.

Super Eagles’ gangling striker Tolu Arokodare said he is happy to be at Ajax Amsterdam after he was handed the number 99 shirt.
Akorokodare will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at the Dutch Eredivisie side. They have an option to sign the striker permanently for 20m euros next summer.
The move is coming as a relief to Arokodare who has had a turbulence pre-season with Wolves after they were relegated from the English Premier League. Arokodare played 38 games and scored six times in all competitions.
At least Arokodare will play topflight football at Ajax, a club that won the Champions League in 1996 with Nigerian legends Finidi George and Nwnakwo Kanu. They finished fifth last season in the Eredivisie and would be playing in the Europa League Conference this season, should they progress through the play offs.
“It is a great feeling to be an Ajax player. I have known the club since I was little,” said Arokodare.
“I could never have imagined that I would play here. Not because I do not want to, but because everyone knows this club. In Nigeria, nobody watches the Eredivisie, but everyone knows Ajax,” he continued.
“When my agent said Ajax were interested, I thought he was joking. As I said, I never expected this. I immediately thought I want this. It is the biggest club in the Netherlands and one of the biggest in Europe.”
