The Police in Casablanca Morocco have arrested a hotel staff who alleged stole a total of $1,150 from the rooms of Super Falcons players while they were training ahead of their opening match of the 2026 Women African Cup of Nations.
According to a statement from the judicial police in Casablanca, the suspect was arrested after investigations into the theft and search revealed that he already converted the stolen money into the local currency Moroccan dirhams. The suspect is currently being detained by the police.
The players who were affected include Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie, Chiamaka Nnadozie and team captain Rasheedat Ajibade.
While complaining about the theft at the Marriot Hotel Casablanca, Okoronkwo was subjected to racial abuse by Moroccan fans, but according to the attacking midfielder, the team will respond on the field of play.
“Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that. We move forward with pride, unity and determination. See you on the pitch,” she wrote her Instagram.
Meanwhile the Super Falcons are already in Rabat where they will play their group C opener against Malawi on Tuesday night.
