Nigerian Democratic Congress NDC vice presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso has claimed that the fear losing their elections made the governors of several states join the All-Progressive Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governors from Delta, Bayelsa, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Zamfara, Rivers, Kano states all joined the APC bring to 31 out of 36 states controlled by the ruling party.
Speaking during an interview with Central TV, Kwankwaso said the ruling party have security agencies, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC officials helping them to rig elections and writing result for them.
“The governors are of the opinion that they should join the ruling party because they believe that the presidency will write results for them.
“We are in a very unfortunate situation in the country where politicians are not too worried about the voters. They believe that the security and INEC are on their sides.
“Because of desperation, many governors can do anything now”.
Meanwhile Kwankwaso lampooned his successor as Kano State governor and now APC top member Abdullahi Ganduje over his submission the NDC cannot make any impact in Kano and other northern states even with Kwankwaso on the ticket.
“Ganduje has no reason to make that statement. We supported him 2015. In 2023 we defeated him and if he could not do anything when he was governor, what can he do now?”
