The Nigeria Police Force said they have arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi the central figure in the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal rocking President Bola Tinubu’s government.
According to the police Mr. Adeyemi was picked up in Osun State by the Intelligence Response Team from Abuja.
“We have just confirmed the arrest of Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi by a team of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Osun State,” said NPF spokesman Okokon Iniedu.
Mr. Adeyemi was scheduled to be in court Tuesday in Abuja, but he failed to show to take his plea at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Trial judge Justice Mohammed Umar issued a warrant for his arrest.
Justice Umar, however, rescheduled Mr Adeyemi’s arraignment for September 30.
Mr Adeyemi accused Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, of collecting N400 million bribe from him in exchange for his appointment as the director-general of the purported fake agency.
