David Beckham and Lionel Messi will put their friendship aside as England face off with Argentina in the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.
Beckham brought Messi to his Inter Miami club in 2023, and the Argentina has been helpful the club on field and in the marketplace. Beckham a former captain of England and Messi are close but that will have to be put on hold untill Wednesday morning when who will be playing in the final with either France or Spain is known.
Beckham is expected to support England, the country he represented on football’s biggest stage. Messi will be trying to guide Argentina into another World Cup final, keeping alive the dream of adding one more defining chapter to the most complete career football has ever seen.
According to MLSsoccer.com, Beckham has followed Messi’s tournament closely. He was in the stands for Argentina’s match against Cape Verde and, after the comeback against Egypt, described the Inter Miami captain as “a very special human being, not only because of what he does on the field, but because of who he is off it.”
