Rocked by the on going corruption scandal involving his Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, President Bola Tinubu has ordered security and
anti-graft agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute government officials and institutions who allegedly collaborated with Adeyemi Matthew Adeniyi.
This new posture by Tinubu’s government that denied the existence of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council run by Adeyemi was disclosed by Temitope Ajayi senior special assistant to Tinubu on media and publicity on his X handle, @TheTope_Ajayi.
“What is not in doubt is that internal collaborators enabled Adeniyi to get this far. That is precisely what investigators from the DSS, the Police and the EFCC must now unravel. The criminal network within the affected institutions must be dismantled and everyone found to have played a role should be arrested and prosecuted.
He said the public had focused on the allegations and accusing the government of cover forgetting that it was the same government that raised the red flag.
“In Nigeria, the easiest and most believable allegation anyone can throw at a public officer is corruption. Once that accusation is thrown into the mix, the water is polluted, the lines are blurred and everyone is kept busy arguing over distractions rather than the real issues.”
Mr Adeyemi who is facing charges of impersonation had accused Hon. Gbajabiami of asking for sizeaable percent of the budgetary allocations to the agency which according to him he paid N400m to be appointed.
Hon. Gbajabiamila denied any wrong doing.
