World acclaim Nigerian Afrobeats diva Temilade Openiyi a.k.a Tems is set to perform with other music greats at the opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Centre in Chicago USA.
Other top musicians who have signed up to perform include Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Jenifer Hudson, Christian Aguilera, Bruce Springsteen, U2 featuring Bono and The Edge.
The historic event billed for June 18 is the pet project of former US President Barrack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama, the campus on the Southside of Chicago will be open to members of the public from June 19.
The facility includes a museum, public spaces, educational centres, sporting facilities and community-focused attractions.
According to the Obama Foundation, the invite-only ceremony will feature performances, storytelling and reflections on the values that shaped the Obama presidency. The event will also be livestreamed globally, allowing audiences around the world to participate in the celebration.
The foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Valerie Jarrett, described the ceremony as a unique occasion. She said: “This Grand Opening ceremony will be unlike any other, filled with music, performances, and hope.” She added that organisers hope to inspire people to believe in their ability to create change in their communities.
