John Terry...concerned about Super Eagles.

By our reporter 11.6.2026
Former Chelsea legendary captain John Terry has stated that it’s unimaginable Nigeria’s Super Eagles, a top team in Africa will not be at the World Cup starting Thursday in Mexico.
Nigeria missed their way during the group qualifiers allowing South Africa to clinch the ticket. And even when offered a second chance through a play off, they fluffed it against Congo DR.
It would be the second time in a row Nigeria is out of the World Cup finals. The 2026 failure was mainly regretful as the team is replete with top players and the participating nations extended to 48 with Africa having ten slots.
Speaking during a virtual media roundtable on SuperSport Terry said: “Nigeria will be a big miss. I would’ve loved to see the top team, like Nigeria [at the World Cup], be there because they’ve got some great individuals.
“I know Obi [Mikel] is very upset that they [Nigeria] are not there. It means he can’t do more commentary on the World Cup. That is why he was upset.”
Nigeria is rated the top best team in Africa in the latest FIFA World rankings behind Senegal and Morocco.
