Pop icon Celine Dion has paid glowing tribute to Rhythm and Blues singer Peabo Bryson who passed on Tuesday at 75 after suffering a stroke.
Both artists did justice to “Beauty and the Beast” a theme song for a Disney animated movie of the same name in 1991. The song became a hit winning a Grammy Awards for Best Song Written for Visual Media and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The single was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and the Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
“I’m heartbroken to hear that we lost Peabo Bryson today. His incredible voice and kind spirit embodied the beauty of song and performance,” Celion Dion stated.
“He was so wonderful and generous to me all those years ago, when we recorded Beauty and the Beast. He made me so comfortable, as I was just learning to sing in English. He will remain for me always as a real symbol of joy that music has brought to my life. His voice and his talent will be missed.
“My heart is with your family, and may you rest in peace, Peabo.”
Bryson, who died on June 2 has 20 studio albums in his 50-year career. His last work titled “Grace” was released in 2026. He came to limelight singing the famous duet “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love,” with the late Roberta Flack in 1983.
