The People’s Democratic Party in the USA has called on the Oyo State and the Federal government to redouble their efforts at rescuing the 46 students kidnapped by bandits in Esinele, Yamota and Alawusa communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
It’s been more than two weeks the since students, some as young as 2-years-old were taken from various schools and their kidnappers continue to evade security forces even as there seem to be a lack of urgency by the government of President Bola Tinubu.
The PDP USA in a statement signed by its secretary, Taiwo Aladefa a former Nigerian Olympian said government and citizens must channel their sadness into a unified action to rescue the kids.
“Our thoughts, tears and unwavering prayers are with the families of the 46 student whose future have been thrown into darkness,” said Aladefa.
“The Images of two-year Christiana Akanbi and three-year-old Sikiru Salami reminds us of the devasting personal cost.
“This is not just an attack on 46 Students; it is an attack on the hope of the community and the future of the nation. They should be learning. laughing and dreaming and not facing terror.”
Meanwhile a group the Agbekoya Farmers’ Society of Nigeria has called on South-West governors to collaborate more closely in tackling banditry and kidnapping across the region.
“The Southwest warriors, Agbekoya Farmers Society of Nigeria, is currently seeking approval from the Federal Government and South-West governors to assist security outfits in the region in stopping bandits and kidnappers operating in the South-West.
“The South-West, as a region, needs to coordinate and strategies, not as six separate states but as a united region. South-West governors should form a forum to agree on a joint approach,” said the group in a statement signed by its President-General, Chief Kamoru Okikiola, and National Public Relations Officer, Chief Olatunji,
