World acclaimed Nigerian music diva Temilade Openiyi a.k.a Tems insisted that she wanted to be managed by Wale Davies a.k.a Tec, and it turned that she really knew what she wanted.
Tec speaking during a chat with Afrobeats Intelligence said he had to forgo his own music career, have little time for relationships to be able to deliver for Tems.
He said at the start when Tems approached him, he almost turned down the opportunity because he realised that managing the “Love Me Jeje” Grammy Award winner will not be a tea party; he understood the weight of the responsibility.
According to him, he feared disappointing her and knew balancing management with his own music career would be difficult.
He said managing an artist requires dedication and much more.
“Will you manage me? I classify that on the same level as ‘Will you marry me? You fuse your life with another person 100 percent. Sometimes you may even speak to your artiste more than your partner.”
According to Tec, building the right team around Tems played a huge role in shaping her journey into becoming one of Africa’s biggest global music stars today.
