Blessing Fubara Snr has picked the Nigeria Democratic Congress form to run for the governorship position of Rivers State.
Blessing Fubara Snr a kinsman of the incumbent governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara indicated his interest on Wednesday in Abuja. This is just as Mr Siminalayi Fubara announced that he wouldn’t be running for a second term on the platform of the All-Progressives Congress on Wednesday.
According to Success Jack, NDC Rivers State chairman Blessing Fubara will contest the NDC primaries.
“Yes, he (Blessing Fubara Snr) obtained his expression of interest from yesterday in Abuja, and we are prepared and still preparing to win not only the governorship election, but all the elections in Rivers State, come 2027 general election”, Mr. Jack told the Daily Trust.
According to reports some loyalists of governor Fubara disqualified from the APC primaries are moving to join the NDC with a view of accomplishing their political ambition.
Governor Fubara who had wanted to run for a second term found himself in the lurch after he was frozen out of the APC by his estranged political godfather Nyesom Wike who ensured that his hand-picked men emerge as APC and Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidates.
Blessing Fubara Snr earlier this month left the APC to join the NDC. He noted that he was joining the NDC in the interest of the people of Rivers State who want to take their State back in 2027.
