Bukayo Saka revealed his excitement at scoring and launching Arsenal to the final of the Champions League after the Gunners pipped visiting Atletico Madrid 1-0 in Tuesday’s semi-final clash.
Saka calmed the nerves of the screaming fans at the Arsenal Stadium London after pouncing on a rebound from Jan Oblak who had parried Leandro Trossard’s shot in the 44th minute of tension soaked match.
In the second half of the cagey encounter Viktor Gyokeres missed a great chance to kill off the game, but he booted over the bar. Arsenal held on to reach their first final in 20 years on a 2-1 aggregate win.
“It is a beautiful story and I hope it ends well in Budapest,” said Saka.
“Yes, we’re so happy. Easier said than done. We managed to manage it well, and take ourselves to the final.
“Sometimes it bounces for you, and sometimes it doesn’t, but you have to be there, and I was there – I got my goal.”
