Following their fierce combat last weekend in a celebrity boxing bout, a Nigerian doctor based in Canada has advised singer Portable to go for a brain scan.
Portable was seen shot of breath and fatigued after he was pummeled by his opponent Carter Efe in the three-round contest at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. Comedian and skit maker Carter Efe who had a clear height advantage land some clean punishing and head snapping shots on Portable.
According to Dr. Arinze Onwumelu a.k.a Dr. Zo, who was speaking in a trending video on social media, Carter’s blows landed on sensitive parts of Portable’s head, which could result into brain injury.
”This is an exhibition match meant for entertainment, not a real fight to harm anyone. The contenders are not expected to fight to that extent.
”Or does it mean Efe didn’t get the memo or wasn’t properly informed? I watched the whole video. The kind of punches he delivered, Portable may never recover from them.
”Anybody who knows Portable should take him to the hospital for an MRI and brain test; there may be an artery that might have been damaged,” Mr Onwumelu advised.
The doctor advised organisers of such matches to provide mandatory head guards for participants in the future to avoid sustaining significant head trauma.
