Following Saturday’s gathering of opposition parties in Ibadan Oyo State, the All-Progressive Congress said President Bola Tinubu is already kilometers ahead in the 2027 presidential elections race and the likes of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and others are just wasting their time.
In Ibadan leaders from the African Democratic Congress (David Mark faction), Peoples Democratic Party (Turaki faction) New Nigeria Peoples Party, Labour Party, and many other smaller political groups vowed to unseat President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
But according to Wasiu Sadare who is the publicity secretary of the APC in Oyo State, President Tinubu will be comfortably re-elected for a second term in office.
“They (opposition figures) are just wasting their time as it is just impossible for them to catch up with a man who is several kilometers ahead of them in a marathon.
“The polls will be hitch-free and credible while he (Makinde) would not find an avenue to escape from the country before May 29, 2027 so that he would be made to answer for the many cases of abuse of office and corruption hanging on his neck,” the statement said.
Political bigwigs at the summit include Atiku Abubakar, Mark, former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, ex-Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, Aisha Yesufu, Professor Pat Utomi and former Youths and Sports minister Solomon Dalung.
Others are former governors Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, Rabiu Kwankwanso, Abdulfatai Ahmed, Rotimi Amechi and Babangida Aliyu, and many others.
