Youths in their hundreds Monday defied the state-imposed curfew, to protest the killing of 27 people during a shooting rampage by gunmen in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State
On Sunday evening gunmen riding in motorbikes invaded Anguwan Rukuba and opened fire indiscriminately in an act of terror.
Plateau State governor Caleb Mutfwang said his government is doing everything to apprehend the terror gang. He had imposed a three-day curfew in the area starting from March 29 to April 1.
Plateau State Police Command spokesperson Alfred Alabo said the police combed the nearby bushes in search of the suspects.
According to Berom Youth Molders Association president Dalyop Solomon Nwantiri 14 persons died on the spot from gun shots, while 13 others died from their wounds in the hospital.
The youth leader condemned the attack, describing it as another sad episode in the recurring security challenges facing communities in the state.
He urged relevant authorities to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
